Being In Shape – What Exactly Does It Mean?

You can see a lot of people who start off with their gymming regimen like this: “I want to get in shape”. This article is to help everyone achieve that goal – in fact there are two very easy ways of achieving it.

First, go to McDonald’s or KFC four times a day and eat at least two meals and a dessert and do not forget to take a large Coke every time. Do this at least for a month – you are now in shape. Okay, you look like someone who is a distant relative of a sumo wrestler, but a sphere is still a shape and you are in it. Now, go out and celebrate at an eat-all-you-can buffet.

Maybe that shape is not for you, or that is far too much work and money, so here is a way of achieving your goal of being in shape today. Simply go to a place where there is a full length mirror and some privacy, take off all your clothes and look at yourself. See, you are ‘in shape’, your shape right now. Congratulate yourself on a job well done.

The point of this sarcasm: the goal “I want to be in shape” does not tell you anything about what you want to achieve.

I want to be in a good shape

Many people will counter this by saying, “Okay, I meant I wanted to be in good shape”. This sounds better, but it is still not specific enough. What do you mean by ‘good shape’, or ‘buff’, or ‘fit’, or ‘toned’? These are highly subjective terms and one person’s ‘fit and toned’ could be another person’s skin and bone.

Be specific about your goal

Say exactly what you are trying to achieve. Obviously not everyone wants to look like Ronnie Coleman or Arnold Schwarzenegger; maybe you just want a flat stomach so you can look good on the beach with a few abs poking out, or you just want to add size to your biceps or forearms. The key point is to be specific so you have an idea of what you are trying to do. How can you expect to build something, let alone a physique, when you have no idea what it is that you are trying to build? To gain extra cutting you can use steroids too, but make sure you understand the meaning of anabolic steroids that help you gain muscle mass.

Be specific and work hard in that direction.
